Proposed New Groups!
History Group
Jenny Knight is offering to lead this group on 1st Monday of the month at The Hub lasting for 1 and half hours approx. Topics for discussion and research would be decided by the group members. There would be a charge of £2.50 to cover the cost of hall hire and a drink.
If you are interested please contact Jenny Knight via the Committee page.
Cuppa and Chat and/or Lunch Club
Would anyone be interested in joining either of these clubs? Days and venues would be decided by those involved. We know that our monthly coffee mornings are popular so we could extend this to a morning or afternoon in local cafes. Lunch venues might be further afield.
If you are interested or require further information please contact Jane Fiddler via the Committee page.
If there is sufficient interest in these proposed new group(s) they could start up from September. Watch this space!
AGM
We held our AGM at our meeting on 12th May. For the papers associated with the AGM please follow this link (AGM 2026). The draft minutes of the meeting will be posted there in due course.
Following the AGM, we had a very interesting talk from Hugh Pihlens introducing us to the fascinating history of Hungerford and the surrounding area from pre-historic times up to the present day. Hugh created the town's Virtual Museum (Virtual Museum), established the Historical Association (Historical Association) and has written several books about Hungerford. It was of course very much a whistle stop introduction but judging by all the questions afterwards it definitely whetted our appetites to find out more about Hungerford and its past.

u3a summer outing to RHS Badminton Flower Show, Badminton, South Gloucestershire - Thursday 9th July.
We have arranged a summer outing to this RHS Flower Show at Badminton on Thursday 9th July.
In July 2026, the Badminton Estate in South Gloucestershire will host the brand new RHS Badminton Flower Show. Highlights include exciting new plant combinations in the Pocket Planting Gardens, traditional craft skills at the RHS Artisan Gardens and vibrant summer displays from over 80 specialist nurseries. Sit back and enjoy music by the lakeside, watch live gardening demonstrations on the stage and head to the Grow Your Own area for handy tips to take home.
The Badminton Estate, home to the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort, is a magnificent country house set within rolling parkland. Known for hosting the world-famous Badminton Horse Trials, the estate has also been location to films and TV programmes including The Gentlemen and Bridgerton. The sport of badminton also originated at Badminton House in the 19th century.
The Gardening group has organised a full programme of visits starting with The Court Garden on Wednesday 25th March; details below.
Also with the Gardening group, there are now new co-ordinators, Gill Latham and Angie Wedgwood, after Liz Camfield has decided to relinquish the role. Many thanks to Liz from us all for all the hard work she has put into establishing and running the group for many years.
