Membership

Subscriptions

Our membership year has previously run from 1st October until 30 September; however we are now in the process of changing this so that from 2027 it will run from 1st April to 31st March. In the meantime our subscription is £9 for new members with no further fee payable for any member before 1st April 2027. If you are already the member of another u3a the fee for new Associate Membership is £7.

You can access and submit the membership form here but if you would prefer to submit the form by post, you can download a pdf copy of the form here. Also there are usually membership forms available at our monthly coffee mornings.

If you would like a hard copy of the National "Third Age Matters" magazine, please mark the application/renewal form and add £4 to the fee to be paid.

Terms and Conditions of Membership

As part of the application process we ask you to agree to the following:

The national u3a Member code of conduct: (https://www.u3a.org.uk/component/edocman/member-code-of-conduct) and

Privacy statement: Hungerford & District u3a processes member information so that we can keep you informed about events, groups and activities as part of your membership. Hungerford & District u3a's lawful basis for collecting this information is legitimate interest. In processing your information Hungerford & District u3a will: store it securely; use it to communicate with you as a u3a member; share your information with group contacts for those groups of which you are a member and send you general information about the Third Age Trust.


Other Important Information

In running the Hungerford and District u3a the Committee aims to comply with all the relevant requirements of the u3a organisation nationally (https://www.u3a.org.uk/members-area/support/advice-and-guidance) including:

Data Protection. Please tell the Membership Secretary and your Group Leader(s) if you have any particular concerns (e.g. wishing not to be included in any photographs)

Health and Safety. Please tell the Membership Secretary and your Group Leader(s) if you have any special requirements that we need to be aware of. Please also provide your Group Leader(s) with In Case of Emergency contact details.

To help the Committee with these wide-ranging responsibilities, please tell us if you feel that there is some matter that we should address; either via the Contact page or in person, for example at the monthly coffee morning.

Magazine and Newsletters

Members of the u3a can receive a hard copy of the National u3a Magazine "Third Age Matters" at a cost of £4 per year (this fee is payable when you join or renew your membership - see the forms above).

There is also a National online news page and an 'online' Friends newsletter which can be obtained by signing up to receive via the National u3a website here.


Other Opportunities

All u3a members can access a wide range of free online talks, workshops, and courses arranged through the National u3a organisation via this link (https://www.u3a.org.uk/events/educational-events).

As a member of Hungerford u3a you are also able to join in the various activities of the Thames Valley Regional Network u3a (http://u3atvnetwork.org.uk/).
